Aloha Friday/Two Question Thursday - Poetry

Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday. Every Friday (well, ok, almost every Friday) I ask a simple question for you to answer--nothing that requires a lengthy response.  I'm combining this with Two Question Thursday (same idea...only TWO questions).

This week I've stumbled on a Poetry Giveaway Event. I'm a poetry lover, so the chance to win books of poetry is exciting to me.  Which brings me to my questions for this week...

So, this week's questions are related to that:
  1. Do you enjoy reading poetry?
  2. If so, what's your favorite poet or poem?
You can answer in the comments.  Thanks!

I love poetry, and my favorite poets are Seamus Heaney,  Sarah Teasdale,  Shakespeare, and a lot of poets who aren't so famous, who I met online.

If you have a blog and would like to post your own questions you can leave your link on the appropriate day at the linkys at 2 Questions Thursday and An Island Life.

  1. I'm not really a poet lover, but there are some pieces I do like. Poetry is an intrepretive thing and sometimes my mind is simply not on the same plane as the author. If the poetry is too complex, then I'm just lost and I don't enjoy it at all.

  4. I love poetry, but not all. T.S. Eliot, for one, is too difficult for me to enjoy. My favorite poets are Emerson, Whitman, and Robinson Jeffers.

  5. 1) I love reading things that moves me, whether poetry or novels. It doesn't have to be just poetry, and I don't necessarily look for it.
    2) I like many poetry from the online blogs, and from established authors as well. I think for this question, I have to say, the poetry I like is very equal in weight, so I don't have particular ones that I like more.

  6. There are some poems that are just short and beautiful, but no. I'm not really a reader of poetry.

When I was young I had favorites, now I cannot remember them at all.

    Enjoy your weekend!
