Squidoo Blog Hop - Squidoo Lenses for Bloggers

Hello, and welcome fellow Squido Lensmasters! For those who aren't travelling here by blog hop and don't know what Squidoo is, it's just a place where you can make nifty little web pages about any topic you choose, and maybe earn a little money for yourself or a charity in the process.

I have a couple lenses with helpful stuff for bloggers!  The first is Blog Events and Linky Parties.  On this one I share about events that you can participate in by sharing a link to a post, sort of like this blog hop (only I only share seasonal or one time events there, not weekly linkies).  There's a lot of Easter events going on now, and other great events in April.  If you know of any more, please let me know so I can add them!

I also have a lens listing some of the Best Giveaway Linkies I've found for promoting blog giveaways.  I watched my stats on several giveaways I had, and though I'd listed my giveaways on many, many giveaway linkies, I found that most of the traffic came from a few high performers (I don't know how this site stacks up since some of those giveaways were hosted here), and listed them on that blog.  I included links to other giveaway linky lists and specialized linkies too.

I really need to update that list.  Actually, I'm looking for some people to help me research, so if you're interested, let me know.  (And I'll be offering some extra advertising for any bloggers who help out.)

Aloha Friday - St. Patrick

Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday. Every Friday (well, ok, almost every Friday) I ask a simple question for you to answer--nothing that requires a lengthy response.

Last week I asked what was the first that came to mind of when you thought of St. Patrick's Day.  Here's the answers I got, in order of most to least...

I was surprised that Ireland or Irish wasn't mentioned (except as part of Irish Soda Bread).  What I wasn't surprised about was that St. Patrick himself, or anything in did or was thought to do, wasn't mentioned.  Until a few years ago I had no idea who he was or why a holiday was named after him.  Turns out he was a fascinating man with a fascinating story.   If you'ld like to learn more about him, there's a great blog post about that here.  But before you read that, please answer my question...

Birthday Bash at Wee Share

Events tend to attract a lot of people, so a lot of times your chances of winning at one of these are less than on giveaways not tied to an event.    Not so with this one!  I've found a lot of Wee Share's Birthday Bash giveaways to be reasonably commented (under 100) with a few really low comment giveaways (try, 7 comments...and that's after the two that I made!)...though there are several 200+ comment ones too. And there's A LOT of giveaways. I'm still working through just the ones for the next couple days! A Virtual Baby Shower for Mommie Daze

Mommie Daze is one of my favorite blogs to read when I need a good dose of mommy humor. Her post are both funny and insightful, and almost always leave me thinking "Yeah...amen to that!" And now and then she posts some really fun give-aways, too.

Well, she just gave birth to a beautiful baby boy (who came 5 weeks early!). I was thinking about telling everyone to go subscribe to her feed, so you'ld be able to catch her new posts when she has time to blog again--but she's blogging already...FROM THE HOSPITAL! If you've ever given birth you GOTTA read her hilarious 10 Things About the Hospital" post! And after you've browsed her blog and have a few laughs, you'll want to stop over at Comfort and Joy Blog for the virtual baby shower going on for her there. There's lots of fun virtual shower games with prizes! One of my favorites is the Baby Mad Libs Game. Wanna play? I'll give you a head start.
