This year at Such Fun to Give, I wanted to have at least one giveaway that would not only raise awareness of modern slavery, but would help raise funds for to help too. So, I called out to sponsors to help pay for a prize that would come with a donation. None of the shops listed on this giveaway payed a dime for this prize: so when the winner spends his prize at these shops, 100% of the profits will go to a charity that helps victims of slavery.
Here's a preview of some of the items the winner could get...

I can't believe 27 million people are trafficked.
ReplyDeleteOk all of those stats unsettled me, esp. the 27% being children
ReplyDelete27% of known trafficking victims are children. That number is just too high!
ReplyDeleteThis is the item I checked out today https://www.etsy.com/listing/168720122/44-oz-freedom-bar-uplift-non-scented?ref=shop_home_active_3
ReplyDeleteThat # is really high o:
ReplyDelete27% of known trafficking victims are children.
ReplyDeleteI did not know there are more slaves now than in the civil war, it's eye opening

this fact just blew me away: "There is an estimated 27 million people in the world enslaved today." I was aware that it was still a major human rights issue in the world, but did not fully realize HOW major! disgusting!
ReplyDeleteIt is quite upsetting to understand that this is a problem even in the US.
ReplyDeleteHope Cycle's Infinity scarf is quite nice: https://www.etsy.com/shop/HopeCycleRefashions?section_id=13057008&ref=shopsection_leftnav_3
ReplyDeleteI had no idea about any of those facts its a real eye opener.
ReplyDeleteIt makes me wonder if there is an organization specifically to focus, find and help those inslaved and if its welcomed internationally.
ReplyDeleteThere are, in various places, organizations with that specific focus for their area. Some are part of the government, others just coordinate with the government.
DeleteSo many people don't realize the extent and scope of this....and not just in so-called Third World nations...it is right here in the United States, taking place in the swankiest hotels in our major cities.
ReplyDelete27 MILLION in the world are enslaved. This is not okay.
ReplyDeleteThat is so horrible that there is so much modern slavery.
ReplyDeletevery eye opening
ReplyDeleteI really like the Wooden Beaded Dangle Earrings at Mercy Jewelry.
ReplyDeleteOne might think that this is a problem of the past - but it isn't.
ReplyDeleteIt's so enlightening to see someone address that this is not a third world problem. This happens in the states all the time! It's terrifying!
ReplyDeleteI learned that 27 percent are children the whole thing is so evil.

27 million people enslaved in this day and age is crazy. I remember reading a story about a woman enslaved in the very province I live in, in Canada. This is crazy to think that people still believe this is okay!
