HELPING HAITI PROJECT PART 2:
Clicks for Charity Campaign and Clicks for Cards Giveaway
GIVEAWAY CLOSED
The Winner is Post #2: DYLANN
As you know, I'm working on ways to raise funds to help in Haiti. My first idea was selling ads for Haiti, and getting other bloggers to do the same. Now time for part II.
As I've mentioned here before, part of the ad revenue earned when people click the button on The Click Health Site and The Hunger Site go to MercyCorps, an organization that is helping relief efforts in Haiti. It costs you nothing to click, and the money earned when you click helps people who really need it. You can click every day!
OK...now on to the giveaway...
GIVEAWAY
I am giving away three 5x7 cards with my Red Lady or Purple Lady designs to one winner. These are like the ones sold at my CafePress Shop shown below....
...only these aren't printed by CafePress. Shutterlfy has a coupon for 3 5×7 folded Greeting Cards (Coupon Code 3FREECARDS - Ends Feb 2nd), and I'll be using my free cards there to make these and send them to the winner.
HOW TO ENTER
Required Entry: Go to The Click Health Site and The Hunger Site and click on the buttons there to earn money for charity (remember, this is completely free!), then come back and leave a comment with your e-mail address so I can contact you if you win.
EXTRA ENTRIES
Make a separate comment for each extra entry, and make sure to do the required entry above first. Each of the following is worth 1 extra entry.
- While you're at The Click Health Site or The Hunger Site, visit their store (there's a link on the side--all profits go to charity) and comment about one thing that caught your eye.
- There are other sites that have programs where you can click to make a free donation (emphasis on free) to various causes. I have a list of ones I know of here. Click to donate at any other three sites for an extra entry.
- If you have a family friendly blog or a website, pledge to donate the profits from any ad space you wish to donate at this site, then come back and comment with the URL of the site you will provide the ads on. If you know how to put up a link or banner on your side-bar, that's all it takes to be able to sell ads to support a good cause.
- Put up a link to A HREF="http://www.thechildhealthsite.com/">The Child Health Site or The Hunger Site or both on you blog or website, then leave a comment with your URL. They have some nifty banners like the ones below (they have more on their website as well as the code to use). Oh, and if you already have these links up that counts too.
- Link to my Click to Donate Links Page. You can use a text link or link with the following banner (yeah, I know...I need to make a side bar banner...working on it):
- Share a link to this page on Facebook
- Twitter this page
- Blog about this giveaway (and comment with the URL)
- Blog about The Child Health Site or The Hunger Site or my Click To Donate Links Site (and comment with the URL)
- Blog about Ads 4 Charity or the Ads 4 Charity Giveaway (and comment with the URL)
- Blog about Mercy Corps or any other charity working in Haiti (and comment with the URL)
END TIME AND RESTRICTIONS
Giveaway ends Jan 28th. Open to US entrants only because of shipping costs. The winner will be chosen randomly using a random number generator at Random.org. If you win you must respond with your address within 24 hours after I contact you or you forfeit your prize. any entries without a valid contact e-mail are ineligible to win.

Advertising for Haiti - And a Giveaway
Well, not just for Haiti...I'm raising funds for MercyCorps, an organization that's working in Haiti and many other places affected by disaster, war, and oppression around the world. They are one of the charities supported when you click at The Hunger Site and The Child Health Site, and was one of the organizations with the most quick and effective response to Hurricane Katrina. Now they are working to help relief efforts in Haiti, and I'm working to raise funds (this is just something I'm doing myself...I'm not in any way affiliated with Mercy Corps.)
If you would like to give you can send donations, even as small as $1, through the FirstGiving page I've set up.
And if you have a blog or website you can possible get some free advertising in return. I'm giving away advertising on my websites to pre-approved bloggers/webmasters who give. Yeah, you noticed that pre-approved part, right? Cause you see I'm sort of picky about what sites I link too...I don't want to link to places with porn, racism, vulgarity, or any of a number of other things I feel conflict with my beliefs. So, I want to screen sites first. But that being said, for just $1 donation to you can get up to two years of advertising? Not bad, is it? It's worth asking first, for, right?
For more details, and a complete list of sites I'm offering ad space on, click here. You can also enter to win a free ad spot here.
And if you would like to offer advertising on your own site to raise money for a charity you care about, or find out more places where you can buy advertising that goes to support a good cause, click here.

Giving to Help Haiti - For Free
As most of you know by now an earthquake has leveled most of Port-au-Prince, Haiti (Haiti's capital city, population around 200,000), and has affected as many as About 3 million people -- one-third of Haiti's population.
It saddens my heart to hear of so many people who had so little to begin with just devastated by this tradgedy...and while "fun" isn't really the word to describe giving to help Haitian Relief, I will say it brought me joy to know I could do something to help. I gave to Mercy Corps, an organization I've been thinking about giving to for several years after it was sited by Charity Navigator as having one of the most affective and well-organized responses to relief for victims of Hurricane Katrina (yeah...why did I wait so long?).
But even if you don't have a cent to spare (which I know is the case for many people right now) there are ways you can help for free, and it only takes a minute of your time (seriously...maybe less that than.) Below are two places that also support Mercy Corps when you click (that's right, all you have to do is click on a link on their site - advertising on the page pays for the donation). Click the logos below to go there.
. ..............
The donations are just a few cents, and the clicks support several charities, not just Mercy Corps, but those pennies add up. I'm not sure if the funds earned for Mercy Corps through those site will specifically go to Haiti relief, BUT any funds going to this charity should help, since they free up more non-allocated funds to go to disaster relief. And it's quick and free, and you can click every day, so why not try it?
There's a list of more places to donate to help Haiti Relief on Charity Navigator. You can find more sites where you can click to support charity here.
Thanks as always to Loobylu for starting Hot or Now Wednessdays! Visit her Mr. Linky to see others who are participating.
