Here's my questions this week:
- Do you have any suggestions for gifts for an 80 year man old who loved to shoot skeet but can't any more and loves Louis Lamour books but has read them all? He also likes crosswords (but can't do them anymore because his hands shake).
- Do you know of any great games for helping to teach a second language to children (namely Spanish). They could be video games, card games, board games, online games, or games you just through up. Thanks!
If you have a blog and would like to post your own questions you can leave your link on the appropriate day at the linkys at 2 Questions Thursday and An Island Life or Auntie E.
Oh my, Gale. Your questions are hard ones for which I have no answers. My brothers set my mother up with a computer when she was about 80 and she became such a pro that she ending up giving others lessons. She wrote her life story, scanned all her photos onto CD's and joined Face Book before I even knew what it was.
ReplyDeleteMy children learned how to speak Spanish by playing with their Spanish-speaking neighbors. I learned to speak English while playing with English speaking kids in school. So my opinion is just let these kids play with Spanish speaking kids and see what happens.
1) Gifts - how about some quality time with him. A couple of hours out in the park.
ReplyDelete2) How about Sorry, it's easy to understand the concept, English or Spanish.
i like the other answers...
ReplyDeletequality time...
or a computer...
or what about scrapbooks you made for him?
as for spanish games..
no clue, maybe the library can help?
My Aloha Friday for you
I would suggest some audio books for a gift.
ReplyDeleteGifts old movies are always good one's
ReplyDeleteand as far as the language thingy I got an email pitch earlier about something but i can't remember the name of it. Shoot me an email and I'll share it with you. they said i could :D
1) How about giving him an iPod touch, and spend some times showing him what/how to get around with it? All he has to do is touch. It will help him see the world is at his finger.
ReplyDelete2) Rosetta Stones have many programs that can help learning Spanish faster..
Brain-killing questions, but I like them!
How about a snuggly blanket. Or a pichured coffee mug.
ReplyDeleteMy Aloha Friday link for you
The first thing that comes to my mind is either an indoor plant/garden he can love on, books and music on tape that he can take around with him and also use on his tv or stereo, Taking him to places he used to love going and spending the time with him and children, let him teach the kids things about this or that museum that you'd visit etc.
ReplyDeleteSpanish - I use Boca beth to help me and hers are so fun and interesting. Flash cards work. Putting notes up over things in iyour home and encourage them to refer to these in spanish. Teach one Spanish word and sentence a day. Give incentives.....
I hope these helps.
:) Have a wonderful weekend!
Gift certificates for restaurants are popular with that age.
ReplyDeleteHave a great Friday!
